Foundation for Rural Service 2010 Youth Tour of Washington D.C., June 5th through June 9th, 2010. --- The Board of Directors of The Tri-County Telephone Association, Inc. announces the 8th annual sponsorship of the summer youth tour to Washington D.C. This is a fully paid sponsorship, air fare and hotel accommodations, for a fall of 2010 senior student whose parents or legal guardians are telephone customers of Tri-County Telephone. The Youth Tour features educational meetings about the telecommunications industry and government functions as well as sightseeing in Washington, D. C.

Recognizing the disparities between rural and urban access to higher education, the Foundation for Rural Service (www.frs.org) offers an annual college scholarship program to help further higher education among rural youth. In May of 2010, FRS will award $75,000 in the form of thirty, $2,500 scholarships to rural high school seniors across the United States. Awards are granted to students sponsored by a National Telecommunications Cooperative Association (NTCA) member company and, if chosen, are awarded $2,000 by FRS in addition to a $500 scholarship match by their sponsoring company.
